iShares Make Strong Gains as VIPERs Crack $1 Billion

IndexFunds.com Staff
Friday, November 16, 2001

ETF assets soared in the previous 2 weeks in a strengthening market that was coupled with strong investor interest in ETFs.

The iShares continued their recent boom, with all of the top iShares funds enjoying significant gains. iShare's breakthrough 35 bp (0.35% expense ratio) EAFE fund (EFA) also continued to surge toward the top 10, nearing a half billion dollars in assets and coming in at 14th. The iShares Russell 3000 fund grew by 50% over the past two weeks. The strong move into Total Market ETFs (driven largely by institutional interest) also continued to benefit the Total Stock Market VIPERs. After less than 6 months of existance, the Total Market VIPERs established its place in the top 10.
